Our Mission...
MISSION: VETERANS TO D.C.
Mission Statement
March 10, 2010
It is the mission of this organization to plan, organize, publicize and carry out charter trips to Washington, D.C. to assist as many Miami County veterans as possible, who have not yet seen their national memorial, to have the opportunity to see their respective memorial and other sites as time and logistics permit.
The Committee shall give first priority to WWII veterans from Miami County who have not seen their memorial, those with a terminal illness having highest priority. Next priority would be WWII veterans from outside Miami County, meeting one or more of the following stipulations: (1) those veterans who have previously applied but could not participate or were placed on a waiting list; (2) those veterans who have a connection to Miami County because they mustered in to the service from Miami County or have another substantial connection; (3) those residing in an adjacent county and who would not have a separate opportunity to travel to Washington DC through another like organization (i.e., Honor Flight, the Sidney veterans group or other veterans group).
Note: those veterans who have a terminal illness or are in failing health must be well enough to actually travel and have an appropriate care-giver accompany them.
The next priority would be Korean War Veterans from Miami County who have not had the opportunity to see the Korean War memorial. Those veterans with a terminal illness shall have the highest priority among such group. Next priority would follow as set forth in the WWII section above.
The Committee may establish further rules or guidelines as to who may be included on future trips considering all relevant factors and the availability of space on the bus.
